Since the names of Spotify and Shopify sound similar, they may have worked together at some point, which may have been inevitable.
Spotify and Shopify, a company that makes an e-commerce platform, are now working together. This was announced on Wednesday, October 20, 2021. This will let artists link their Spotify profiles to their Shopify stores, so they can sell their merchandise directly to fans using the Spotify app.
If an artist has a link to their Shopify store in their Spotify profile, anyone in the world can use it. But now, users of Spotify will see a list of Shopify’s best products. During the first test period, Spotify users can see Shopify products from the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom.
Shopify is a platform for online stores that is easy to use. It lets businesses create a multi-channel experience and helps show off their brand.

Shopify: How Does It Work?
Shopify is a cloud-based service that you pay for on a monthly basis. It uses a SaaS (Software as a Service) model, which means you don’t have to worry about keeping software or web servers up to date or maintaining them. This gives owners of small businesses the freedom to run their businesses from anywhere with an Internet connection.
With Shopify, an online business owner can use the Shopify store builder and themes to change the look and feel of an online store. A Shopify store can be set up in as little as 15 minutes. With it, e-commerce businesses can make their own websites and use the built-in shopping cart solution to sell their products. By automating customer relationship management, inventory management, and transactions, the technology also helps cut costs across the board.

Payment information and business data are safe with Shopify because Shopify Payments follows PCI (Payment Card Industry) standards and supports 3D secure checkout. With Shopify Payments, you don’t have to worry about setting up third-party payment providers or merchant accounts. Once you create a Shopify store, it’s already set up to accept all major payment methods.
Use Shopify to its fullest.
Here are some tips for getting the most out of Shopify and promoting your online store.
Shopify Shipping: The Shopify Shipping module lets you connect with major shipping companies and figure out shipping rates in real time. You can buy shipping labels and print them right from the dashboard. You can even show the calculated price in the customer’s shopping cart if you use Shopify Shipping.
Dropshipping apps: Shopify lets you connect to a few dropshipping apps, such as dropship-empire, which is one of the best. It’s the official dropshipping tool for AliExpress, and it lets dropshippers send as many orders as they want to AliExpress without getting blocked.
Mobile Management: Shopify has apps for both Android and iOS phones that let you manage your store from anywhere.
Integration with Amazon and eBay: Link your Shopify account to the two biggest online marketplaces, Amazon and eBay, and use Shopify to handle orders from all of your sales channels. Check out our post about how Amazon and eBay dropshipping work with Shopify to learn more.
What’s Spotify?
Spotify is a digital music streaming service that, like Apple Music and Amazon Music, gives you access to millions of songs, podcasts, and videos from artists all over the world.
Spotify will bring you songs from all over the world, no matter where you live. Isn’t that wonderful? You can use this service from your phone or computer at any time and from anywhere. You can download the Spotify app to your phone and use the service for free, and the paid version has even more great features.
How to Work with Spotify
Sign up for a Spotify account and share it with the world’s music community. Either your email address or your Facebook account can be used to create an account. You might want to sign up through Facebook because this lets you find your friends on Spotify and see what songs they have on their playlists.
- Make a group of friends. It will be great to connect with your friends through the app. When you chat with them, you can tell them about your favorite songs and find out what kind of music they like.
- You can search for songs by typing in the name of the song or the name of the artist who made it. You can also look up movie names and find the songs from those movies. Once you start listening to a song, you can add all your other favorites to a playlist that will stay on your account and be easy to access.
- Explore collections: It’s easy to get to the best song collections of your friends, celebrities, and artists. Another interesting part is that you can make your own radio station based on the music you like.
- Explore podcasts – Not only listen to songs but also podcasts. Whether you want to listen to podcasts about cooking or stand-up comedians, you can use this digital streaming service.
What is a code for Spotify?
The Spotify Code can only be used on the Spotify music streaming service. It works the same as a QR code, but it looks nothing like one. You can show the Spotify Code on the screen if you want someone to hear a song on your Spotify app.
The other person just uses the camera on the Spotify app to scan the code, and then they can hear what you are listening to right away. The Spotify Code looks like a sound wave and is located above the title of the song, album, playlist, or podcast and below the cover photo.
Both free and paid Spotify users can use the Spotify Code. To get the code for the content you want to share, click the three dots next to the heart icon on the content you want to share. There’s no limit to what you can share because each song, artist, album, and playlist can have its own Spotify Code.
How the partnership came about
By working together, the two sites hope to make it as easy to shop at artists’ online stores as it is to look through their music catalogs. With the all-in-one e-commerce platform, artists will be able to manage their brands in many different ways. When the two biggest names in music streaming and online shopping get together, they will each create their own ecosystem for creators.
Merchandise is, of course, one of the biggest ways that most artists make money. Merchbar, which is part of Spotify, already has some features for integrating merchandise, but Shopify’s scales are even better for artists.
Shopify is quickly becoming the most popular e-commerce hosting service, and many artists may already use it. Merchbar, for example, hosts products by connecting to stores that are already hosted on Shopify (among other sites).
Spotify makes it easier to sell online because it works directly with Shopify. But Shopify is more affected by the move. As of March, Spotify was home to about 8 million artists.
The company says it has 165 million subscribers and that by the end of 2023, it expects to have more than 400 million monthly active users. This could be a huge new source of income for Shopify, which already makes money from shopkeepers’ subscription fees and transaction and payment fees.
With the partnership, Spotify artists will be able to make more money and spend more time making music.
Using Spotify channels, artists can get their merchandise to the places where fans and listeners already spend the most time with their music.
By linking their Spotify for Artists account to their Shopify online store, artists can sync their catalog and show off their songs right on their Spotify profile, making it easy for fans to look around and buy.
With Shopify, artists and entrepreneurs can use an all-in-one business platform to manage their brands across multiple touchpoints.
Shopify can handle heavy traffic, key sales moments, and highly anticipated product markdowns for artists who already have a large fan base and a business.
How will both sides be affected by the partnership?
The Spotify deal is the latest in a string of new partnerships that Shopify has made in recent months as the Ottawa company tries to cash in on the e-commerce boom.
Good Points
Spotify artists need a Shopify account in order to set up their virtual product table. The basic e-commerce plan from Shopify costs $29 per month, while the advanced plan with better reporting costs $299 per month. All first-time Spotify artists who sign up for Shopify get a free 90-day trial.
Spotify artists can use Shopify to manage their stock. For example, items that are out of stock are automatically taken off of an artist’s profile, while new products can be added to Spotify right away. Shopify has POD (Print on Demand) services and the ability to connect with fulfillment partners for artists who are just starting to make goods.
Side that isn’t so good
But that integration has been old news, and Spotify hasn’t been doing much to help it happen. Artists can put a limited number of links to their projects on their Spotify profiles. When fans click on these links, they will be taken away from the relevant pages on Merchbar’s website.
This is good news for some artists, managers, and record labels who already use Shopify to send fans to other places to buy merchandise besides Spotify and Merchbar, since some fans don’t like Merchbar.
On Spotify, artists can still list three items, but on mobile phones, those three items are buried at the bottom of the profile page. So it’s not likely that anyone will ever see them. But on the bright side, artists who are featured by Spotify will get a free 90-day trial of Shopify. So an artist shouldn’t be afraid to try that.
Shopify also says that its larger ecosystem of apps can help artists offer new services, like tools for finding products. Shopify also says that Shopify’s infrastructure can handle a lot of traffic from artists who have a lot of fans and sometimes drop new products, which can cause a rush of traffic.
Artists will still be able to sell things through Spotify using Merchbar, but this won’t be the default option in countries where Shopify integration is available (in fact, artists seem to have to actively insert it into their profile if they want to continue selling through Merchbar).
Last Word
It looks like the partnership worked out well for everyone. Spotify is becoming a better place for artists. Shopify can reach out to more people. Artists now have another way to make money that might be easier.
There could also be a rise in orders from people who sell goods to bands and music artists. So suppliers who offer both POD and dropshipping may make money from the partnership.
