Here are some words you should know about the new law on packaging:
- VerpackG: The European Directive 94/62/EC on Packaging into national law. Through the Packaging Law, businesses are required to help recycle the packaging for their products.
- Zentralen Stelle Verpackungs Register: (ZSVR) is the official name of the body in charge of keeping an eye on things. It is in charge of making sure that distributors and manufacturers follow the VerpackG, making sure that the market for packaging handling is fair, etc.
- LUCID: It is the ZSVR platform for registering packages, which can also be thought of as the ZSVR database.
- This is the official organization in Germany that is in charge of collecting, transporting, and recycling waste packaging materials.
E-commerce platforms like AliExpress and logistics service providers will have to register the LUCID ID, apply for a license, and join the binary system by July 1, 2022. If a supplier doesn’t have a LUCID ID, they won’t be able to sell to Germany.
